PEACE SILK
Peace silk, also known as ahimsa silk, is produced without harming the silkworms.
In conventional silk production, silkworms are killed – typically by boiling them alive – to extract the silk threads from their cocoons. In contrast, peace silk allows the cocoons to hatch naturally, enabling the silkworms to complete their life cycle and emerge as moths, as nature intended. The silk threads are then collected after the moths have emerged from the cocoons.
This method of peace silk production is rooted in the principle of ahimsa – a Sanskrit word meaning “non-violence”. Peace silk is a more ethical and humane alternative to traditional silk, as it avoids killing silkworms.
Peace silk is more time-consuming and labour-intensive to produce, which naturally makes it a more exclusive fabric. To us, that investment reflects a deeper value: choosing a material made with care, patience and respect for the natural cycle of the silkworm.
Because the moth completes its transformation and emerges from the cocoon, peace silk tends to have a slightly less uniform texture than conventional silk.
We see that as part of its beauty — a subtle, living irregularity that adds character, authenticity and soul to every piece we create.
L’Euphoria dresses are crafted from premium peace silk, reflecting our deep commitment to ethical production, humanity and mindful craftsmanship.
By choosing peace silk, you embrace a form of luxury that honours the silkworm’s natural life cycle and supports transparent, non-violent practices throughout the entire process.
Silk has been treasured by royalty and nobility throughout history for its luxurious, glamorous appearance and exceptional qualities.
Silk is renowned for its soft, smooth texture, exquisite shine, and remarkable strength. As a natural protein fiber, it’s durable, drapes beautifully, and resists wrinkles – making it a highly desirable material for clothing.
One of silk’s most distinctive features is its natural luster, which gives it a shimmering, light-catching quality that adds instant elegance to any garment.
It also has excellent moisture-wicking properties, helping keep you cool and dry in warm weather, while providing warmth in cooler temperatures.
In addition, silk is hypoallergenic and gentle on the skin, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
Isn’t it remarkable that such a small creature can spin a thread of such extraordinary beauty?
The least we can do is honour its natural journey.
That is why we choose certified Ahimsa peace silk — a material created with respect, patience, and transparency.
